Eco-Communication Strategies: Environmental Journalism, Narrative Strategies, and Gamified Media in Post-War Reconstruction
This course introduces eco-communication as a multidisciplinary field that connects environmental sciences, journalism, linguistics, and digital media within the broader framework of sustainable development. It focuses on how environmental knowledge is produced, interpreted, and communicated across different platforms and audiences, with particular attention to narrative strategies, language choices, trust, and ethical responsibility.
The course examines environmental journalism, framing and discourse, data-driven and visual storytelling, and the use of digital and AI-supported tools for environmental communication. Special emphasis is placed on communication under conditions of uncertainty, crisis, recovery, and long-term transition, highlighting the challenges of conveying environmental risks, rebuilding trust, and sustaining public engagement.
By combining theoretical foundations with analytical and practice-oriented tasks, the course equips students with the competencies required to critically assess environmental media and to design clear, responsible, and effective eco-communication messages in academic, professional, and public contexts.
